my buddy hector let me borrow a Lou Reed Biography after a little tiff on who was a better (I'm always pulling for Bowie) and more prolific songwriter. With every little bit of information and anecdote and search for tracks mentioned in the book im falling a little more and more for his style.(simple bittersweet catchy lil dittys) and what a fantastic album cover. I wanna wear that outfit!(ps. bowie is still my number one never doubt that)

Gift by Lou Reed

Irving Penn is one of my favorite photographers anyway and everyone loves a good bloom. These single flower portraits that he made for several decades of his life are just stunning and remind me that the months of cold (hahaha this coming from someone who lives in California) is totally worth it for new blooms. Warpaint. Viva la Warpaint. i'm so obsessed. Thats it, i'm changing the name of this blog from highland and ponce to i'm so obsessed. But really, I love this band (and I emphasize the word band because so often women are always annoyingly referred to as "girl groups" and warpaint is a band) They make me proud of Los Angeles. Listen to them here(holy moly myspace is still good for something). And if you ever see me walking around with headphones,this is i'm listening to.

the current exhibit at the V&A(if only i live in or was lucky enough to visit London) is "Cult of Beauty" I have become enamored with Leighton and Rossetti and all their contemporaries. I can definitely find a modern day parallel to this style, especially by artist/designers hannah and alexandra. Man oh Man I just wanna lounge! And be admired! and look cute sleeping (because honestly I am more of the drooling with crazy bed head sleeper) One can dream right?
